Everyone’s favourite granola
This granola is on regular rotation in the B’hive and I’m sure it will become one of your favourites too! (You might not ever buy granola again!)
Easily customize this recipe to suit your preferences and what you have on hand. Change it up by using different nuts, seeds, dried fruits and even sweeteners.
Enjoy this homemade granola as a replacement for boxed cereal, use it as a topping on a smoothie bowl or toss it over some yogurt and fruit.
The loads of crunchy clusters you get with this recipe (the best part of any granola, don’t you think?) make it ideal for snacking too.

Let’s make this:
INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 C rolled oats
1/2 C quinoa, rinsed & drained
1/2 C pumpkin seeds
1/2 C slivered almonds
1/2 C pecan or walnut pieces
1/2 C unsweetened, shredded coconut
1/4 C light brown sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon (more to taste)
2 tsp. ground ginger (more to taste)
1 tsp. kosher or sea salt
1/2 C unsweetened applesauce
1/4 C honey or maple syrup
2 Tbsp. coconut oil, melted
1/2 C mixed dried fruit (eg. cranberries,cherries, apricots)
2 egg whites + 1 tsp. water
THIS IS HOW:
Preheat oven to 350º
In a medium bowl, mix together oats, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, almonds, coconut, brown sugar, cinnamon, ground ginger and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the applesauce,honey and coconut oil.
Add the applesauce mixture to the dry ingredientsand stir well to coat.
In a small bowl, whisk egg whites with water until frothy, but not stiff.
Pour over mixed granola, and stir to coat well.
Spread granola evenly over a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until crisp, stirring half-way through.
When granola is crisp and golden, remove from the oven.
Once granola has cooled, transfer to a bowl and stir in dried fruit. Store in an airtight container
Granola will keep for about 1 week.
TIPS
Don’t skip step #’s 4 & 5. This is what creates the epic granola chunks!
It’s tempting to dive in, but let the granola cool completely before transferring it to a bowl and mixing in fruit.
